In the beginning
I have made this blog for selfish reasons. Even as I ponder how to begin, I wonder exactly why I’m undertaking this project (if you can call it that).
I have recently developed an urge to write. I think this has evolved from reading mostly, although I’m hardly a stunning success in that regard. My current literary endeavour – Stephen King’s Dark Tower series/epic tale – has stretched on for the best part of 5 years. Yes, 5 years, and I am almost finished number 5 of 7. Reasons for the snail’s pace aside, I have become utterly engrossed in the story. I find the characters’ personas to be gritty and psychologically rewarding to delve into. The plot is absorbing, moving at frenetic pace one minute, and ambling in the next. Long story short, a personally satisfying read.
Which brings me to this blog. At this point in my writing pursuits – the very beginning – I am enthusiastic about finding out whether story-telling is something I will both enjoy and succeed at. This blog is an attempt to externalise the process, to put my thoughts on paper (perhaps in preparation for pending insanity). And also to practice the art of putting pen to paper, figuratively speaking.
Whether or not anyone will read this, time will tell. Still, thats no reason not to begin the journey. Till next post…
